Uber Driver Stabbed to Death in Bronx

BRONX- An Uber driver was stabbed to death in the Bronx and police have released a photo of a person of interest in the case.

Uber driver Ganiou Gandonou, 27, was stabbed to death inside his car in Co-op City on Friday night. The father of a toddler had been an Uber driver for only two years.

Police are looking into the possibility that robbery was the motive for the murder.

The New York Taxi Workers Alliance is offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Gandonou was found stabbed to death inside his Toyota Camry at 4160 Hutchinson River Parkway East. The car was found in front of a building in the out of the way area known as Section 5 in Co-op City.

Cops found the car at around 9 pm on March 2. Police say Gandonou suffered stab wounds to his neck and torso.

Police say the surveillance video captured the suspect seen walking on Bartow Avenue and Co-op City Boulevard. If that is true that means the alleged killer hiked from Section 5, under the draw bridge on the Hutchinson River Parkway, past the entrance to the mall and the Bartow Shopping Center.

It is unclear if the killer was covered in blood when he made such a hike on a Friday night.
