BRONX- The lead suspect in the murder of a Bronx mother and her teenage son threw himself in front of a train, published reports say.
Police did not release the name of the victim. However, they believe the man is the boyfriend of Marisol Ortiz, 51, who was found dead in her Belmont apartment with her 14-year-old son Alanche Delorbe.
The man apparently jumped in front of a Metro North train near the Hartsdale station.
Police were called to the home at 775 East 185 Street at 3:38 p.m., on February 17, after co-workers called family members, when the woman, a business owner, failed to open up her store that day.
According to police, family members made the grisly discovery of Marisol Ortiz, 51, and her son Alanche Delorbe, 14.
Police say both victims suffered “apparent head trauma” and both were declared dead at the scene.
Police say a knife and an exercise weight, the likely murder weapons, were found at the scene.
Detectives continue to search for the unidentified ex-con boyfriend and the medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
Outside the home, a cousin told reporters that Delorbe would have turned 15 the following day.
