Police ID Suspect in Attempted Rape of 83 Year Old Woman in the Bronx

BRONX- Police have identified a suspect in the attempted rape of an 83-year-old woman in the Bronx. The woman suffered broken ribs in the vicious attack.

Investigators released the name and photo of a man, they say, attacked an 83-year-old woman inside her apartment in the Castle Hill Houses over the weekend. 

The attack happened around 12:51 am on March 9. Cops say a man knocked on the elderly woman’s apartment door inside the Castle Hill Houses. When the victim opened her door, the man pushed her inside the apartment. 

The man then proceeded to strike her repeatedly about the body and attempted to rape her. The attacker then stole the victim’s cell phone and jewelry. 

The elderly victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was treated for broken ribs and facial injuries. 

Police have identified 51-year-old Gary Mallette as the main suspect in the case. He is 6 foot 1 and weighs 180 pounds.
