Bronx Parade to Show its Pride

Parade, Festival Cap Pride Month in Bronx

The Bronx is ready to show its Pride.

The largest Pride Parade in the borough will kick off at the Bronx County Courthouse at 10 am on June 23. Afterwards parade goers can attend the 1 Bronx 1 World Pride Festival on Third Avenue.

The celebrations kicked off last week with the Pride flag being hoisted at the Bronx County Courthouse.

“By flying the flag in front of The Bronx County Building, we are putting our borough’s commitment to equality on full display. We will not allow the LGBTQ community to be pushed to the sidelines, especially in these times when their rights are so often under attack. The Bronx is a place for everyone, and that includes our LGBTQ brothers and sisters,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.

This year’s events are the largest seen in the borough. Previously, the Bronx did not have a Pride Parade. There was only a music festival held in a park within the out of the way Hunts Point Industrial Park in the middle of August.
