As part of Macy’s National Day of Service, 180 New York City-based volunteers honored MLK by volunteering at St. John The Divine Cathedral Community Cares in Morningside Heights.

“Martin Luther King Jr. brought people together, inspired them with his vision for a world free of prejudice, and empowered them to be positive forces for change in their communities,” said Shawn Outler, EVP, Chief Diversity Officer at Macy’s, Inc. “We honor Dr. King and keep his dream alive by holding a company-wide day of service, and doing our part to give back to the neighborhoods where our colleagues and customers live and work.”

The New York City day of service consisted of various projects benefitting the patrons of St. John The Divine Cathedral Community Cares including distributing clothing from Macy’s, preparing and packing lunch, and playing games such as chess, checkers, and cards, with community members.
