Bronx Man Charged with Killing Uncle, Family Friend
NEW YORK– The Bronx DA has indicted the nephew of an elderly lottery winner for his murder. Prosecutors say the man not only stabbed his frail uncle but later a female friend at her place of work.
Idris Abdul Muhaymin, 45, was charged with two counts of murder.
Prosecutors said Muhaymin put his 73-year-old uncle Owen Dillard in a choke hold and then fatally stabbed him.
Although Dillard is reported to have won $10,000 in the lottery, law enforcement officials said Muhaymin only made off with a few dollars.
The killing took place inside Dillard’s apartment on June 11.
District Attorney Clark said, “The defendant allegedly killed his uncle who was battling cancer, during a robbery that netted him a few dollars. A month later, while he was on the run, the defendant allegedly killed a woman who was considered a close friend of his family, at the place where she worked.”
According to prosecutors, as police were looking for Muhaymin a month after the uncle’s body was discovered, he allegedly struck again.
The killer went to MNI Security Specialist Inc on East 233rd Street, across the street from a church. Muhaymin approached family friend Wanda Rios, who worked at the location and proceeded to stab her.
He then made off with some electronic equipment from the job.
Muhaymin was charged with murder, four counts of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree manslaughter, four counts of first-degree robbery, and first and second-degree strangulation.
He will be back in court on October 9th.
