DINING OUT– It might be a holiday gathering, wedding, birthday, anniversary, or a functional space for a business meeting. We’re always on the lookout for venues to hold that special event and be well catered to.  


Here are a few suggestions in the Bronx/Westchester area…


MARIO’S RESTAURANT, 2342 Arthur Ave., Bronx 718-584-1188


Since 1919, five generations of the Migliucci family have worked the front and back-of-the-house making sure patrons are well served at this venerable Little Italy institution. There are private party and meeting facilities for 20 to 145 guests overlooking bustling Arthur Ave. 



Amiable Joe Migliucci, the current patriarch, is there with his wife Barbara, daughter Regina and sons Michael and Mario. Joe’s mom, Mama Rose Migliucci, was considered to be ‘the first lady of Arthur Ave.’ 


This restaurant has a long 99- year history full of colorful chapters. The flavorful sauces and gravies produced in this kitchen are the stuff of Italian ‘foodie heaven’. HURLEY’S STEAKHOUSE & PUB, 15 Division St., New Rochelle 914-738-6000


Seasoned restaurateur Paul Hurley has opened a handsome 90-seat gastro-pub next to the Avalon complex offering such amenities as a cozy fireplace, dark wood & brick walls, separate bar/lounge and full-service dining room featuring such specialties as a seafood Raw Bar, Porterhouse Steak for two, Colorado Rack of Lamb, Prime Beef Short Ribs, and a loaded 10 oz. ‘Queen of the Sound’ prime beef Burger stacked with lettuce, tomato, American cheese, fried oysters, sautéed mushrooms, smoked bacon on a brioche bun.

When Nick DiCostanzo was growing up on the Island of Ischia on the Coast of Naples in Italy, his earliest memories where of the simple seaside meals he would enjoy with his family, farm-to-table and of course sea-to-table. As proprietor of Mamma Francesca for over 30 years, located on the banks of Long Island Sound with 6-story views of the ‘Queen City’s’ seafaring boat clubs, this culinary philosophy still holds true, albeit with a sprinkling of contemporary taste.

MULINO’S AT LAKE ISLE, 660 White Plains Road, Eastchester 



From the same well-heeled crew that has been serving patrons at Mulino’s of Westchester in White Plains for the past 25 years comes Mulino’s at Lake Isle, a major state of the art multi-sectioned catering facility that underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation on the grounds of Lake Isle Country Club. Louis Gigante, proprietor of Mulino’s Restaurant, and Louis Gigante Jr. are in charge. When operating at full throttle Mulino’s at Lake Isle can accommodate up to 300 guests for all types of catered events and functions.

Visit La Panetiere in Rye with its lush seasonal landscaping and the charm of the beautifully decorated dining rooms. Jacques Loupiac’s long-running bastion of French cuisine on Milton Road in Rye will help you create an unforgettable experience. Your special event can be held in the small private room for up to 20 guests, yet another larger room for up to 55, and even the main dining room which can accommodate up to 100.
