Coughing Fit Causes Car Crash in Bronx

2 Injured When Car Hops Curb in Riverdale

BRONX– Two pedestrians and a driver were injured after the driver had a coughing fit, causing him to jump the curb and strike the front of a building.

According to police, the unidentified 53-year-old male driver was headed northbound on Riverdale Avenue at 3:25 p.m. on January 9. The driver began coughing, causing him to lose control of his 2015 Kia sedan. 

The vehicle jumped the curb, striking a 6 year-old female and a 44 year-old male standing in front of 3240 Riverdale Avenue.

All 3 victims were transported to St. Barnabas, where they treated and released. 

Police could not immediately say if any summonses were issued to the driver.
