Could Dad Walk After Leaving Twins to Die in Hot Car?

Bronx News-Grand Jury Has Not Heard Case of Dad Who Left Twins in Hot Car

The Dad who left his twin infants to die in a hot car in the Bronx has not faced a grand jury leaving some to speculate he might go free.

The NY Post is reporting that the Bronx DA’s office is “still investigating” the case against Juan Rodriguez- who left his kids in a hot car.

The 39-year-old dad said he did not know that his infant twins were in the back of the car when he left them for eight hours as he worked across the street at the Bronx VA Hospital.

Rodriguez is out on $100,000 bail. He has been charged with two counts of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in the deaths of Luna and Phoenix. Both 1 years old.

A grand jury can ultimately get the case and indict.

However, court watchers are expressing doubt that Rodriguez will ultimately be charged. The Iraq vet’s wife has been by his side since he was charged.

Neither cops nor prosecutors have been willing to discuss the case. The one question Kingsbridge residents had for Rodriguez when they spoke to the Bronx Voice was why didn’t he look in the back seat before he went to work.

Rodriguez is due back in court on August 27.
