Bronx News- Bronx Tries to Cope with Heatwave
By David Greene
The Bronx baked during a weekend heatwave with residents trying to find relief anyway they can.
A blistering heatwave cancelled the popular OZZ-Fest and the New York City Triathlon and sparked a blackout at an Eastchester nursing home that may have resulted in one man’s death.
The city opened 500 cooling centers across the city. Con Ed reported 22,000 customers lost power July 21, including 4,300 customers in Eastchester and all customers were expected to have restored service on Monday.
The heat prompted one New England police department to ask criminals to hold off a day before committing any crimes.
