Bronx Hair Salon Shootout Leaves One Dead

Bullets Fly During Brawl in Bronx Hair Salon

BRONX– A shootout at a Bronx hair salon left one man dead and another wounded as police try to untangle this hairy case.

Cops say the hair raising drama started at around 8 pm yesterday at White Plains Road in Williamsbridge. A fight broke out inside Ambience Unisex Salon near 220th Street.

At some point during the fight bullets started to fly. Kevin Higgins, 47, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to nearby Montefiore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A second shooting victim was scooped up by police a few blocks from the shooting. Cops say the 30-year-old man suffered a bullet wound to the leg.

When they picked the man up cops found a handgun and bullets on him. He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

Investigators believe the second unidentified victim fatally shot Higgins. However, cops say the man is not cooperating with detectives.

Currently the 30-year-old has not been charged but the investigation is ongoing.

It is unclear at this time what was the motive for the brawl inside the hair salon. It is also unclear whether Higgins was the intended target and whether he shot the 30-year-old suspect.

It is unknown how many people were involved and whether Higgins was another gunman or whether he was caught in the crossfire between two shooters. Cops are keeping details close the vest.
