Arrest Made in Attempted Rape Near Mosque in Bronx

BRONX– Cops arrested a man in connection with the attempted rape of a woman near a Bronx mosque. 

At around 1:45 am on January 16, a 22-year-old woman was attacked on the corner of East 189th Street and Belmont Avenue across the street from a mosque.





A man came up to the woman and put her in a choke hold. He then proceeded to drag her for a block. Suddenly a Good Samaritan confronted the attacker. He dropped his victim and fled.

Police arrested 37-year-old Martin Estrada who lives a block away from the site.  

Estrada was charged with Attempted Rape, Unlawful Imprisonment and Attempted Assault.
